Manifesto

Welcome to Vulvaverse, a transformative music festival curated and brought to life by the band VULVA. Our mission is to create an inclusive universe where marginalised artists, musicians, creators, and speakers can showcase their talents and foster a space of learning and healing. We want to scream, dance, laugh and listen together, making space for new perspectives. Furthermore, we aim to provide valuable insights and information through our programming.

Each year, we shed light on a vital subject related to bodily autonomy. We have explored topics such as abortion and contraception and trans healthcare. This year, we host a talk on sex work in the Netherlands. By addressing these topics, we hope to generate meaningful conversations and deepen our collective understanding.

Voices and narratives of marginalised and often silenced peoples enrich not only our music, but also our view on life and the world around us. They challenge us to reach new, more complex, profuse, profound and sometimes even utopian futures to reach for in times of hopelessness and despair. They also help us put words to feelings we ourselves might never have found and broaden our own perspectives.

We as VULVA believe in radical compassion and genuine curiosity towards yourself and others, gaining knowledge about people different from ourselves to grow together and to embrace the beauty of the full spectrum of humans on this planet.

Code of Conduct

To ensure that Vulvaverse remains a safer and enjoyable environment for all, we have established a set of ground rules. By choosing to engage with our program, whether digitally or at a live event, you agree to act according to the following principles:

Respect

Treat everyone with kindness and dignity. Discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, age, ability, or appearance will not be tolerated.

Consent

Consent is key. Whether you would like to dance with someone, photograph or film them, remember: enthusiastic “yes” is a yes, whereas “maybe” and “no” mean “no”.

Pronouns & Orientation

Do not assume someone’s pronouns or orientation. Respect the way people wish to be addressed.

Safety and Support

Our staff and floor angels are here for you. If you feel unsafe or witness inappropriate behaviour, do not hesitate to approach them for help. Sexual harassment and any form of violence will result in removal from the event.

If these principles don't align with your values, we encourage you to reconsider your attendance at Vulvaverse.
